Steve Peregrin Took (1949–2015) was an English musician, best known as the co-founder of the glam rock band Tyrannosaurus Rex, alongside Marc Bolan. Took's eclectic style combined elements of folk, rock, and psychedelic music, contributing to the band's distinctive sound in the late 1960s. He played a variety of instruments, including the bongos and acoustic guitar, and was known for his whimsical lyrics and theatrical stage presence. Notable works during his time with Tyrannosaurus Rex include albums like *My People Were Fair and Other Stories* (1968) and *Prophets, Seers & Sages: The Angels of the Ages* (1969). After leaving the band in 1970, Took pursued a solo career and collaborated with various artists, exploring genres such as glam and punk rock. Took's impact on music is notable for his influence on the glam rock movement and his role in shaping the early sound of Tyrannosaurus Rex, which laid groundwork for later artists in the genre. His playful approach and unique artistic vision contributed to the counterculture of the 1960s and 70s, and he remains a cult figure among fans of that era.
